I love to run the morning after an evening rainfall

The air is moist.

The grass is wet.

The temperature is cool.

Such a marvelous experience!

I love to run barefoot through puddles

It is such an awesome feeling to feel the water splash around your feet.

It’s liberating. Try it sometime.

And if you don’t run, then jog. If you don’t jog, then walk!

Step in puddles and enjoy!

I love to run during cool autumn nights

I love to run during cool autumn nights.

I love the autumn weather when it is cool outside, not too hot and not too cold. It feels great as my body heats up during a night run.

I love to feel the coolness on my arms, legs and feet; the freshness, the naturalness, is hard to beat.

I breath in the breeze easily as I increase my speed knowing that this end of evening ritual is exactly what I need.

I love to run half-marathons

I love to run half-marathons.

Just to be clear, a half-marathon is 21 kilometers (13.1 miles) long. The full marathon is twice as much.

I really enjoy running in half-marathon races because it seems to be just the right distance to go without needing to eat anything.

I did my very first half-marathon in Panama with a time of 2:40 (2 hours and 30 minutes). It was pretty slow but the important thing is that I got it done.

I gradually improved as I was also losing weight and was able to do my fastest time a 3 or so years ago. I ran it in 1:40.

Since that time, I’ve gained some weight again and I am up to 2 hours again. I still have a lot of life in me and as I get to the big 4-0, I plan to beat my personal best.

I eventually want to break 1:30.

It’s entirely doable and it will happen! 🙂

I love to run half-marathons!

I love to cheer runners at races as they approach the finish line

I love to cheer runners at races as they approach the finish line.

Two of my daughters and I went to volunteer at a local 5K race to support veterans and first responders (i.e. police and firefighters) . It seemed like most volunteer jobs were taken so they assigned us to be cheerleaders. In other words, to cheer runners on as they approach the finish line.

This is something I normally do after running races so this came natural to me. For my daughters, it was the first time they were actively cheering others, but it was a positive experience for them as well.

I enjoy doing this because runners react positively to it. They often smile and say thanks as they pass us or come back after they finish and express gratitude and mention that the little extra push helped them finish strong.

I love to see them feel the energy rush when I tell them to push it to the finish.

I love to cheer runners at races as they approach the finish line!

I love seeing old pictures of me running with friends in races

I love seeing old pictures of me running with friends in races.

I love seeing pictures. I love seeing old pictures. I love seeing old pictures of friends. I love seeing pictures of friends running, especially in races.

I love the memories of past races. Remembering the joy of the race with friends. And the celebration once the race is done.

I love seeing old pictures of me running with friends in races!

I love to hear the sounds of nature during a late night run

I love to hear the sounds of nature during a late night run.

I love the silence and the noise of the night. I love when I am all alone running down the middle of the street.

I love the silence of the cars and the regular hustle and bustle of daily life.

I love the noise of nature. Owls hooting, frogs croaking and of course the wind.

I love to hear the sounds of nature during a late night run!
