I love to use my imagination to motivate myself while running.
I love to run as you may already know. There are times (believe it or not), when I get tired or for some reason I seem to be running out of steam too soon.
This morning was one of those times. For some reason, just two miles into the run, I was feeling a bit more tired than usual. I slowed down a little to catch my breath and gain some energy.
I turned left at a major intersection and was on sidewalk that had many plants and bushes within arms reach. I started touching the leaves as I ran by.
Then a bright idea came to mind: these tress, plants and bushes were on the sidelines and were high-fiving me as I passed by them. I started touching all of the plants that I could reach imagining in mind that the tall ones were adults and the short ones were children. The ones that were a bit further away, I thought were lazy because they didn’t want to stretch their arms out. I still reached out to touch them.
At some point during my mind game, I noticed, I didn’t feel tired anymore. So I ran happy.
And still high-fived the plants till I reached my destination.
Thanks for the motivation, my spectator plants.
